Since its foundation in 1989, Wandsworth Oasis has provided support to – and challenged stigma towards – those living with HIV.
Using revenue generated by our nine charity shops located in London, as well as fundraising initiatives, we provide small and large grants to organisations providing direct support and prevention services to HIV positive individuals.

This February, we recognise LGBT+ History Month—a time to reflect on the activism and social change that has shaped the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. 🏳️🌈✨
💡 Why February?
LGBT+ History Month takes place in February to mark the 2003 abolition of Section 28, a law that prohibited the “promotion of homosexuality” in schools and local authorities. Its removal was a crucial moment in the fight for equality and representation.
🌍 The 2025 Theme: Activism & Social Change
Activism has always been at the heart of LGBTQ+ rights. From the Stonewall Riots to the continued fight for global equality, progress has been driven by those who refused to stay silent.

🌍 HIV: A Global Challenge We Can Overcome Together
HIV remains a significant public health issue, having claimed an estimated 42.3 million lives to date. Globally, transmission continues in all countries, with 39.9 million people living with HIV at the end of 2023—65% of them in the WHO African Region.
Despite the challenges, there’s hope:
✔️ Effective prevention, diagnosis, and treatment mean HIV is now a manageable chronic condition, enabling people to live long, healthy lives.
✔️ In 2023, 86% of people living with HIV knew their status, 77% were receiving treatment, and 72% had suppressed viral loads—critical progress, but there’s still work to be done.
The goal is clear: by 2025, we aim for 95% of people with HIV to be diagnosed, treated, and achieving viral suppression—steps that align with the global goal of ending the HIV epidemic by 2030.
